Description of Position/Benefits/Church:

South Mills Church of Christ is looking for a key partner to support our senior minister under the direction of its Eldership. The position entails balancing preaching duties, administration, and specialized ministry oversight. Our current senior minister has faithfully served this church for nearly 40 years, and we are looking for an understudy interested in a long-term relationship with our church and its membership of about 140, individuals and located in a rapidly growing location. The chosen candidate will also begin a multi-year transition process into the Senior Evangelist/Pastor position. Responsibilities include:
• Preaching on a periodic basis to include delivering sermons to the congregation with coaching from leadership.
• Periodic leading of Bible classes on Sunday mornings as well as Wednesday Bible studies on Wednesday mornings and/or evenings schedule permitting.
• Pastoral Care provides visitational visits to the sick, homebound, and the hospitalized to lift their spirits in times of trial.
• The ministry will include the outreach to Youth and Families as part of the overall pastoral care and evangelism.
• Participation in bi-monthly leadership meetings to help direct the focus on various ministries and help direct the management of the church.
• As an associate they may be called upon to assist with or lead public prayers, baptisms, weddings, funerals, and the weekly administration of the Lord’s Supper.
Background, South Mills Church of Christ has strong ties to Mid-Atlantic Christian University (MACU) with many of our leadership having graduated or serving the university today. We want another leader with a "servant’s heart", that has experienced believer's baptism by immersion and aligns with Restoration Movement doctrine. You should possess or have the desire to have strong interpersonal experiences through communication, organizational proficiency, and work collaboratively to promote God’s kingdom.
