From the President

Mid-Atlantic Christian University is focused on preparing students to live a life of purpose and meaning that glorifies God. At MACU, you will find a community of faith in an atmosphere of scholarship. Our mission is to transform ordinary people into extraordinary Christian leaders. We seek to develop men and women with the values, knowledge, and skills to impact the world. If you are searching for a university where you will be stretched academically, socially, and spiritually, MACU is for you!

At Mid-Atlantic, we believe that every Christian is a minister of Christ. Some who study here will prepare for church related ministries while others will be educated to serve in the marketplace. To effectively transform the world, we must inculcate a Christian worldview in every discipline.  J. Gresham Machen wrote, “For Christians to influence the world with the truth of God’s Word requires the recovery of the great Reformation doctrine of vocation. Christians are called to God’s service not only in church professions but also in every secular calling. The task of restoring truth to the culture depends largely on our laypeople.” Every MACU graduate, regardless of vocation, will be well prepared to influence the culture for Christ.

There are a many reasons for a student to attend MACU. At MACU you will study with professors who are leaders in their fields of study. You will establish deep and lasting friendships, enjoy the beautiful waterfront campus, enthusiastically support Mustangs athletic events, worship together in chapel services, experience community in discipleship groups, and be inspired to reach your greatest potential. You will learn to think critically. You will be exposed to new ideas and to cultural diversity. You will have great student life events, dorm experiences, summer mission trips, and multiple opportunities to converse with staff and faculty members. At MACU you will have the opportunity to become a leader as you discover that leading requires serving.

If you want to rise above the ordinary and are up to the task of reaching your maximum potential – Mid-Atlantic Christian University is for you!

I look forward to hearing your story and how God is leading you to serve Him, in the church or in the marketplace.

John W. Maurice, Jr.
President, Mid-Atlantic Christian University

MACU SealThe seal of Mid-Atlantic Christian University depicts key features of the university. The shield reminds us of the shield of faith (Ephesians 6:16). The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, located on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, has been the university’s symbol from its founding. The open book, representing both God’s Word and academic excellence, reminds us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge (Proverbs 1:7) and that we, His children, should pursue excellence (1 Corinthians 10:31). The cross, shown in the center of the founding year – 1948 – indicates that honoring Christ and His Church is at the center of all the university does. – December 3, 2014
