Full-time Youth Minister: Horsepasture Christian Church, Ridgeway, VA
Horsepasture Christian Church (HCC) is an established and thriving church in south-central Virginia. Located just outside of Martinsville, VA, the church is in a rural setting but has great potential for growth. Currently, Sunday worship services average around 300 in attendance. HCC is a wonderful, loving church family that is dedicated to being a congregation that is always Sharing the Gospel, Making Disciples, and Loving People.
The area surrounding HCC provides many outdoor opportunities including hiking, camping, kayaking, mountain biking, hunting, and fishing. It is an ideal location for anyone that loves to spend time outdoors. The area is also only about an hour from several cities such as Roanoke, Christiansburg, Danville, Greensboro, and Winston-Salem, providing easy to reach opportunities for anything usually found in cities.
Qualifications:
1) We are seeking a person of faith, dedicated to Jesus and sold out for Him
2) We are seeking a person of integrity, doing his very best to live a life worthy of the calling he has received
3) We are seeking a person of grace, admitting when he is wrong and quick to forgive others who wrong him
4) We are seeking a person with a learning spirit, eager to grow in his knowledge and abilities concerning how to best minister to youth
5) It is essential that the candidate’s beliefs align with our core beliefs (core beliefs)
6) It is ideal that the candidate has a ministry degree from an accredited Christian college associated with the Christian Churches/Churches of Christ.
7) It is preferable that the candidate have at least 5 years of full-time ministry experience in a Christian Church/Church of Christ
Responsibilities:
The Youth Minister will oversee HCC’s youth ministry (grades 6th-12th) by:
1) Reviewing current discipleship and outreach strategies, altering these strategies as necessary
2) Ensuring that all youth ministry classes and programs are covered
3) Maintaining a healthy level of contact with students in the youth ministry outside of scheduled youth events (texts, phone calls, attending sporting events, etc)
4) Creating and promoting service and mission opportunities for the teens of HCC
5) Creating and promoting outreach opportunities for youth in Horsepasture and the surrounding areas
6) Promoting student involvement in Camp Pitt, participation in either the High School or Middle School week of camp is ideal
7) Working with the current youth ministry team, training and expanding this team as necessary
8) Partnering with other ministry staff at HCC, under the supervision of the Senior Minister
9) Being willing to pick up other responsibilities as needed as our church grows, and new needs arise
10) Participating in the general life of the congregation, and actively promoting its mission and values
