Bethlehem Christian Church in Suffolk, Virginia, is currently searching for a full time pastor. This suburban, denominationally unaffiliated (formerly United Church of Christ), doctrinally mainstream congregation has a traditional to blended worship style with 70-80 in average Sunday attendance. We are involved with several community organizations and ministries, such as Food Pantry, Bon Secours Care-A- Van, Girl Scouts, etc. A college or seminary degree is required. Ideally the candidate will help Bethlehem seek God's guidance for the future of the church, and to help us reach out to children, youth, and young families in the community, while still shepherding the elderly members and caring for their spiritual needs. Candidate should help the church be a welcoming and inviting place for young families, while still honoring the traditions of our Congregational Christian roots and remaining faithful to Scripture. Candidate should help mold the worship service into one that ministers to both young families and the more senior members, blending the contemporary with the time-honored traditions of the faith. Candidate should be able to work effectively with lay leaders to discern God's will and help us fulfill our calling as a church. Candidate should help our historically welcoming and loving congregation remain a beacon in the local community through various missions and outreach efforts, both local and distant, and help us focus and refine our efforts to effectively reach people for His Kingdom.
