2016 MACU Motorcycle Rally & Charity Ride D.Q. & Bob Morton Memorial Ride
Update September 14, 2016
Our eighth motorcycle ride was a success! Beautiful weather set the perfect environment for a fun ride with great friends. 46 people participated on 38 motorcycles. Proceeds are building up the student scholarship in the Foundation “Biker Rally Scholarship for Cross-Cultural Studies.” Thank you to those who shared during the MACU presentation on campus: John Maurice, VP for IA, President Perkins, Dr. Claudio Divino, MACU Students: Russell Stevens, Angus Spencer, and David Dirks. Thank you to Plymouth Church of Christ for providing a great lunch for the riders and a nice break between the two hour ride. We appreciate our sponsor businesses: First Citizens Bank, Eastern Pet Company, Pepsi Bottling Ventures, TLC Tire Lube and Car Care, and Hampton Inn.
Next year’s ride will take place on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Plan on joining us!
Enjoy a beautiful ride from Elizabeth City down to Plymouth and back. We start the day at Mid-Atlantic Christian University with checkin and late registration at 8:30 to 9:30. At 9:30 join us in the gym for a brief program where we will take up an offering for the scholarship fund. Meet MACU students who are studying here to do cross-cultural missions careers after graduation. The University is training some extraordinary leaders! The ride begins around 10:30 a.m. and takes us over the Albemarle Sound, about 55 miles, to Plymouth Church of Christ. The church is providing lunch, restrooms and parking for the one hour break. Door prizes will be awarded during the lunch break. At 1:00 p.m. the ride will return to the MACU campus by driving over the Roanoke River bridges.

The ride will be a memorial to D.Q. Roberts of Christian Riders Ministry, and Bob Morton. D.Q. Roberts and Beth have ministered to hundreds of bikers and led many to Christ. MACU loves cross-cultural ministry and we honor the work D. Q. completed. Beth Mangum-Roberts will join us for the ride. We also continue to remember Bob Morton during the ride. Bob was such a blessing to us and to so many others he shared the Gospel with. Cat Morton, Bob’s widow, will help lead the ride. |
