Mid-Atlantic Christian University has been ranked 18th among the top 30 colleges and universities for students to study Psychology or Counseling. This ranking by Best Psychology Degrees was determined by studying selective small colleges and universities with an undergraduate population of 3,000 students or less that offer a bachelor’s degree in counseling or a specialized counseling area. Only schools with a current accreditation were reviewed. The institutions selected were required to offer a bachelor’s degree in counseling or a specialized counseling area, have less than 3,000 students, and be a public or private non-profit 4 year college.
The 30 most selective schools were based on the percentage of students admitted and the number of degrees conferred in the area of counseling. MACU is a private Christian University offering both psychology and counseling courses. Mid-Atlantic prepares students to either continue their education in grad school or use their education to obtain employment through their local church, religious service organizations and human service entities. The Counseling and Psychology program is a part of the Department of Marketplace Ministry which allows students to pursue their educational goals with the intention of delivering their services to the community.

Counseling is a growing and vibrant field that offers excellent employment opportunities for graduates who earn a Bachelor’s degree. According to The Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment opportunities are increasing. Best Psychology Degrees reports that “never before have there been so many different employment opportunities for those entering the field with a Bachelor’s Degree. Graduates are able to serve as addiction counselors, spiritual counselors, marriage and family counselors and small group/individual counselors. Social service organizations seek graduates to work with the disabled, the elderly, students, and families.”
