MACU Shining A Light in the Local Schools!

May 1, 2017 | General Info, News

Elizabeth City Pasquotank Public Schools held their annual Community Recognition Reception and Awards Event last night at Pasquotank Elementary School.  Mid-Atlantic Christian University was humbled to be honored as the 2016-17 School Level Business Partner of the Year for our adopted school, Sheep Harney Elementary.

Athletic Director Neal Alligood and Dr. Cheryl Luton, Director of Teacher Education, were on hand to receive the award on behalf of the University.  Many of MACU’s wonderful students, through the department of athletics and the Elementary Education program serve each week – shining their light – in the hallways and classrooms of Sheep Harney.

A “Volunteer of the Year” and a “Business Partner of the Year” are selected for each of the ECPPS schools.  Then one individual volunteer and one business parter are selected as the “District Level” recipient for going above and beyond in their labor of love.  The University was selected as the “School Level” Business Partner and was excited to celebrate those who went on to win the District Level awards!

The MACU Mustangs and many from the rest of the student body have been faithfully serving over the last 5 years at Sheep Harney Elementary.  During the 2016-17 school year at least 42 different MACU Mustangs and fellow students/staff volunteered 630+ hours!  We are so very proud of the way the MACU family invests into the lives of these students, staff and administrators.  It is a most wonderful and blessed partnership!
