MACU Ranked 2nd in Top 40 Best Online Theology Degrees 2015 – 2016

Oct 22, 2015 | Academic News, News

Elizabeth City, NC – October 15, 2015.  Affordable Colleges Online has analyzed data from hundreds of colleges across the nation with online degrees in theological and biblical studies at the bachelor’s level and ranked Mid-Atlantic Christian University #2 among the top 40 schools.

MACU’s Christian Ministry program gives students an opportunity to expand their religious knowledge without disrupting career advancement, family time, or busy schedules. Although achieving an online degree in theology can be spiritually beneficial and educational, it is not exclusively for those pursuing ministerial training and ordination. Theology degrees give students a deeper understanding of competing world views, faith, philosophy and the sacred scriptures.

Rankings were based upon a proprietary scoring system to score these colleges based upon various cost-to-quality criteria and metrics, or the AC Online Peer-Based Value. This proprietary metric compares qualitative components of colleges with similar costs, against the tuition of colleges with similar quality metrics. The general criteria and scoring metrics include:

– Must be a private or public not-for-profit institution
– Must offer at least one fully online degree program
– Number of online bachelor’s degrees available
– Student-faculty ratio
– Percent of students receiving financial aid
– Academic and career counseling
– 6-year graduation rate

Mid-Atlantic Christian University’s Department of Biblical Studies offers an online degree in Christian ministry. Students take 30 semester hours in biblical studies and 36 semester hours in Christian ministry. They learn about effective Christian leadership, how to understand and appreciate non-Christians, how to counsel others and about the value of their role in society. This online degree is comparable to the traditional on-campus program and includes a 24-hour support center to assist students whenever possible. Most degree completion students can finish the program in about two years, depending on how many credits they transfer in and how many classes they take at a time.

Since 1948 Mid-Atlantic Christian University has been a leader in the area of theology and biblical studies.  Nearly 75% of male alumni are serving in vocational ministry roles.  MACU alumni serve in 48 states, 1 territory, the District of Columbia, and 25 countries.
