He has participated on many levels as a player, manager and coach. Divino was a starter and right wing player for INTERNATIONAL Middle School, Colegio IBITURUNA, AETE club, and STEB club in Brazil. He went on to coach the Antioch and Corporate Express soccer clubs in New York City before moving to Rochester, MN to take a position with Crossroads College. College President, Dr. Clay Perkins stated, “College athletics is an important part of biblical higher education. We are please to add soccer with such a fine experienced coach as Dr. Divino. Our athletes are students first and always spiritual leaders in the community.” Vice President for Student Services, Dr. Ken Greene, states that,” in addition to strong academics, MACU is responding to a desire for growing athletic offerings by students and that there will be more athletic programs to be added in the near future.”
Coach Divino is excited about the possibility of helping the soccer student athletes develop their full potential. He believes that athletics can be a God-given opportunity to develop Christian character and develop leadership skills!
Athletic Director Neal Alligood had these words to share about the hiring of Dr. Divino:
“I was thrilled to discover Dr. Divino’s passion for the game of soccer during the same time frame that we were making our announcement to launch our new soccer program! I truly believe it was God’s guidance to bring this partnership together. Coach Divino has a deep passion for the game, a true love for the Lord, and desires to see the student athletes excel on and off the field. He brings a wonderful combination of all the things that Mid-Atlantic Christian University and MACU Athletics is all about, the desire to grow these student athletes Spiritually, Academically and Athletically! He does all this without sacrificing the competitive drive that develops a winning product on the field. I am ecstatic to be able to work alongside someone who brings such a strong soccer pedigree to our program.”
