Description of Position/Benefits/Church: |
Next Gen Minister
Overview:
The Next Gen Minister is a part-time position is to oversee and develop the ministries that serve the children and students, ages birth through twelfth grade of Smithfield Christian Church.
About Smithfield Christian Church:
Smithfield Christian Church is an independent non-denominational church in Southeastern Virginia (Hampton Roads) with the mission to Love Like Jesus. In the past year SCC has seen significant growth of Sunday worship attendance, growth in “next steps” like baptisms and Life Group participation, and growth in our ministries to children and students. In addition to the current growth, SCC is located in Isle of Wight County, which is the 7th fastest growing county/independent city in Virginia and our property is across the street from a new housing development that is in the works for 2024. Because of this current and potential growth, and through prayerful consideration, our leadership has seen fit to pursue the new staff position of Next Gen Minister to lead and develop the current and future ministries to our children and students, ages birth through twelfth grade.
Currently, the programming of SCC’s children’s ministry is primarily on Sunday mornings with a nursery, toddler class, preschool-kindergarten class, and elementary-aged worship time. The programming of SCC’s youth ministry is primarily on Sunday evenings for a combined 6th-12th grade Life Group with activities, a lesson, and group discussions, as well as events throughout the year.
