MAC Addresses

How to Find the MAC Address of a Common Streaming or Gaming Device

Google Chromecast

To find the MAC address of your Chromecast:

  1. Open the Chromecast app on your computer. If you have set up your Chromecast recently, you'll find a shortcut to the app on your desktop. Otherwise, Windows users should check the Start Menu; Mac users should check Applications
  2. Click Settings. 
  3. Find the MAC address at the bottom of the window. The system's MAC address is located at the bottom-left corner of the Settings menu.


Xbox 360

 

Microsoft XBOX 360 (i.e. not the classic XBOX). There are two sub-contexts:

  • the 360 has been updated with the "New Xbox Experience" (NXE) dashboard. This is easily identifiable by the presence of avatars,the "Video Marketplace" with Netflix, and all-together different interface then previously
  • the 360 has not been updated to the NXE and still runs the old 360 dashboard

On the old dashboard (pre-NXE)

  1. Go right to reach the System "blade" of the Dashboard
  2. Select Network Settings
  3. Select Edit Settings
  4. Under Basic Settings check to make sure IP Settings is on Automatic
  5. Go right to get to the Additional Settings Tab
  6. Go down to select Advanced Settings
  7. Toward the bottom of the screen you should see Wired MAC Address. The MAC Address should appear below this.

On the new dashboard NXE

  1. Scroll Down (if necessary) to "My Xbox"
  2. Go all the way to the right and select System Settings
  3. On the new screen, select Network Settings
  4. Select Configure Network
  5. Under Basic Settings, check to make sure IP Settings is on Automatic
  6. Go right to select the Additional Settings Tab
  7. Go down and select the second item Advanced Settings
  8. Toward the bottom of the screen you should see Wired MAC Address. The MAC Address is the number below this.


Nintendo Wii

To find the MAC address for your Nintendo Wii, follow the steps taken from Nintendo's support site:

  1. From the Wii Channel menu, select Wii Settings (the round button on the bottom-left of the screen with "Wii" on it).
  2. Select Internet, then Console Settings.
  3. The MAC address of the Wii console is displayed on the first line.

*Please keep in mind that the Wii can only connect to the Internet via wireless at this time.*


Playstation 3

From the PS3 main menu screen:

  1. Select Settings.
  2. Select System Settings.
  3. Select System Information.
  4. This screen will display your PS3 MAC address.


Playstation 4

  1. Start up your PlayStation 4 without a disk in the drive.
  2. Find the System Settings icon and select the X.
  3. Click System Information and press the X
  4. Your Mac Address will display.


Nintendo DS

 

To find your Nintendo DS's MAC address, you will need a WiFi-enabled game for the Nintendo DS. From the official Nintendo WiFi website: The MAC address of the Nintendo DS can be found by going to the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Setup in the game's menu. Select Options, then System Information]. The MAC address is displayed on the top line.


AppleTV

  1. Go to the main menu on your Apple TV and select "Settings."
  2. In the Settings Menu, select "About"
  3. Here you can find your MAC Address listed as "Wireless ID"

Alternate method for locating the Wireless MAC Address of your AppleTV:

  1. The AppleTV Ethernet and Wireless network MAC addresses can be found on the UPC label on the AppleTV box.


Roku

To find your Roku's MAC address, you will need to follow the instructions from the official Roku website:

You can find your device MAC addresses on the bottom or back on your Roku player (depending upon model). A MAC address is a set of six 2-digit pairs separated by colons (e.g. 00:0D:0A:1H:3G:5C). One set is for your wireless connection and one set is for your wired/Ethernet connection, if your Roku player model supports Ethernet. 

Alternatively, from the Roku home screen, select Settings> About. The MAC addresses will be listed on-screen.


Tivo

If a compatible network adapter (wired or wireless) is attached to the TiVo, the MAC address can be obtained by following these steps:

  1. Press the TiVo button to go to TiVo Central.
  2. Select Messages and Settings.
  3. Select Phone and Network Setup.
  4. On the Phone and Network Setup screen, the MAC address will be displayed on the top right of the screen.
