Motorcycle Rally & Charity Ride 2016

2016 MACU Motorcycle Rally & Charity Ride D.Q. & Bob Morton Memorial Ride Update September 14, 2016 Our eighth motorcycle ride was a success! Beautiful weather set the perfect environment for a fun ride with great friends. 46 people participated on 38 motorcycles. Proceeds are building up the student scholarship in the Foundation "Biker Rally Scholarship for Cross-Cultural Studies."  Thank you to those who shared during the MACU presentation on campus: John Maurice, VP for IA, President Perkins, Dr. Claudio Divino, MACU Students: Russell Stevens, Angus Spencer, and David Dirks.  Thank you to Plymouth Church of Christ for providing a great lunch for the riders and a nice break between the two hour ride.   We appreciate our sponsor businesses:  First Citizens Bank, Eastern Pet Company, Pepsi Bottling Ventures, TLC Tire Lube and Car Care, and Hampton Inn. MACU Ranked #1 Online University in North Carolina

Elizabeth City, NC – The successful implementation and completion of the Global Classroom Campaign made online education a reality. Mid-Atlantic Christian University received notification on April 15, 2013, from The Southern Association of College and Schools - Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC), that several of its degree programs were approved for one hundred percent online delivery.  In our third year of offering online education MACU is honored to receive this ranking. Degrees offered online from the School of Professional Studies include a B.S. in Christian Ministry, B.S. in Family Studies, B.S. in Organizational Leadership, and an A.A. in Biblical Studies.  The university's School of Undergraduate Studies offers the B.S. in Business Administration, A.A. in Biblical Studies, B.S. in Biblical Studies, and the Certificate in Family Life Education.

Elizabeth City, NC – May 1, 2016.  Tom Charlet, editor of a website called ToBecomeATeacher.org recently released the rankings of the top schools in North Carolina that offer educational degrees for students looking to become teachers in North Carolina. MACU was selected as one of the top five programs in the state. President D. Clay Perkins, Ph.D., remarked, “I am extremely proud of the excellence in all of our academic programs at MACU. Our elementary education program is no exception. MACU Teacher of the Year - 2015-2016

The faculty of Mid-Atlantic Christian University has chosen Professor Lee Fields, Ph.D. as teacher of the year for 2015-2016.  Dr. Fields will be recognized at a special awards program hosted by the Elizabeth City Chamber of Commerce on May 4. Dr. Fields has been a professor at Mid-Atlantic since 1997 and is Professor of Bible and Chair of the Department of Biblical Studies. He received his Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Emporia State University in Physical Science. After attending Manhattan Christian College in Kansas, he moved to Cincinnati, receiving the Master of Divinity degree in General Bible from Cincinnati Bible Seminary. He received his Ph.D. from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, in Hebraic and Cognate Studies with an emphasis in Judaic Studies in the Greco-Roman Period.  His dissertation was entitled, "An Anonymous Dialog with a Jew: An Introduction and Annotated Translation." Professor Fields is well known as an Old Testament and Biblical Languages scholar.  He recently co-authored a book titled Devotions on the Hebrew Bible with Dr. Milton Eng.  Mid-Atlantic is pleased to honor Professor Fields and is grateful for his faithful service to the university.

MACU Hires New Women’s Head Volleyball Coach

Elizabeth City, NC – February 23, 2016.  We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Kellie Kessler has been chosen as the new MACU Mustangs Women’s Volleyball Coach. Coach Kessler’s tenure begins immediately as she will be leading the workout for new recruits on Tuesday, February 23, and will take the reins fully in the 2016-2017 academic year. Coach Kessler has been the Director of the Beach Breakers Home School Volleyball Sports Program in Virginia Beach (Junior Junior Varsity, Junior Varsity and Varsity) as well as the Head Varsity Coach from 2008 to the present. She has led their team to first place finishes in pre-season tournaments as well as taking second place last year in their home school state conference. Mrs. Kessler also led her team to finish in the second division at a national tournament. Mrs. Kessler lives in Virginia Beach where she and her husband are involved in marriage and parenting ministries at Kempsville Christian Church.   Athletic Director Neal Alligood states, “We are tremendously excited to welcome Coach Kessler to our campus and our athletic staff. She will be the first female head coach to join our program.
