Mid-Atlantic Christian University Plans to Dedicate Prayer Area

Elizabeth City, NC – September 25, 2012 - On the second anniversary of the death of Jonathan Schipper on MACU’s campus, the Student Life Department will dedicate a special prayer area.

The dedication service will take place on October 3rd.  It will begin in the Davenport Chapel of the Blanton Campus Life Center at 9:30am, and a prayer walk will proceed to the Prayer Garden, located in the courtyard, west of Poindexter Street.  The public is invited to attend.

President Clay Perkins states, “Two years ago a tragedy happened in a good place. Now out of tragedy we have a special place on our campus dedicated to prayer. Jonathan Schipper was a young man of prayer. It is a tribute to Jonathan. May we pray for peace, not violence. May we continue to pray for healing for the Schipper family and all who were affected by this incident.”

As the university continues to heal from this incident, the community support that she has received remains a vital part of the healing.  Our hope is that the Jonathan Schipper Prayer Garden will continue the process of healing and be a   testimony to the power of prayer for generations to come.
