General Purpose of Position:

 To build young disciples for Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to youth ministry (in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach) while serving as a spiritual leader and role model.  The following ministries are potentially involved: children, teenagers, and young adults.  Ministries shall be age-defined and involve various purposes within each age group.

  • An engaging teacher, with a strong biblical and theological background, who is in agreement with First Christian Church of Lake Butler’s doctrine and beliefs.
  • One who has well-developed organizational skills and is capable of creating and executing a long-term vision and strategic plan for First Christian Church’s children and youth ministries.
  • A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, possessing relational skills with students, parents, and staff.
  • Experience leading worship/music experience would be beneficial, but not required for consideration. 


  • Grow the youth ministry in meaningful ways (including, but not limited to: spiritually, children and youth activities, involvement in community functions, etc.).
  • Weekly one hour one-on-one mentoring by the Senior Minister and/or Elder(s) for: encouragement, direction, support, and continued challenge toward holiness and righteousness.
  • Attend all worship services, regular programming, and special meetings unless prior arrangements with Senior Minister and Church Board are made.
  • Present monthly ministry updates and goals for the coming year to the church board.
  • Participate in annual performance review.
  • Preach on occasion.

 Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and organize effective youth programs implementing fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism, as well as ministry and mission opportunities, understanding the importance of advance planning, preparation, and regularly scheduled activities.
  • Recruit, train and shepherd volunteer youth with diverse gifts and personalities.
  • Provide spiritual counseling and spiritual direction to youth on an individual basis.
  • Maintain contact with students, parents, Senior Minister, Church Board; keeping them informed of ongoing activities (regular meetings, online calendar, newsletter, email list, etc.).
  • Keep parents, Senior Minister, and Church Board updated on ministry strategies, and plan and organize events in a way that encourages partnership and involvement.
  • Support parents in effectively fulfilling their Christian parenting roles, in concert with the Senior Minister and Elders.
  • Assist in the development and oversight of the youth ministry budget; also manage student fees for events and trips in a timely fashion.
  • Seek to integrate youth ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries.
  • Participate as needed or requested in the evaluation and development of the overall church ministry.
  • Work with the Senior Minister and Church Board to identify volunteers within the church family who may be given leadership roles within the various ministry areas as needed for the successful implementation of the strategic plan.

Youth Minister

Tomahawk Christian Church located in Hedgesville, West Virginia, with an average morning worship attendance of 80 is seeking a full-time children’s / youth minister who holds to the principles of the Restoration Movement.  We are located in one of the 50 fastest growing counties in the country which presents great potential for growth and discipleship for the growing of the kingdom.

weekend Youth/Children’s Minister

Laurel Avenue Church of Christ is looking for a weekend Youth/Children’s Minister.  The position will focus on Sunday morning children and youth programming, ages 4 - 14; Sunday School and Children’s Church (9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.) and a Sunday Evening Outreach Programming.  Weekend housing would be available for free if the candidate would prefer coming to Chesapeake on Saturday afternoon or evenings.  A generous salary would be provided for the right candidate.  Here’s a great opportunity to work with a legacy church, wanting to reach the children of our neighborhood and community with the gospel of Christ.

Job Title:  Lead Student Minister

Purpose Statement:  The Student Minister carries the primary responsibility to create a vision and implement strategies for students, families and the church to partner together so that students discover God, develop relationally and spiritually, and deploy into the community. This responsibility includes oversight of other student ministry employees and volunteers. The two primary goals of this position are to reach local youth leading them into a growing relationship with Christ and equipping parents to disciple their student ministry aged children.

 This person is a minister with passion for Jesus Christ and New Life Christian Church. He/she is enthusiastically focused on New Life’s mission to make disciples who make disciples who start churches that start churches.  He/she is a proven team player who possesses a positive attitude, interpersonal skills required to attract and disciple students, and can excel in a fast-paced, energetic and team environment.

Reports to:  Executive Minister

Staff Expectations:

  1. Live committed to our mission of “making disciples who make disciples who start churches that start churches” by personally living life in 3D (Discover, Develop, Deploy) and embodying our values (fun, safety, honor, risk, next steps).
  2. Abide by the New Life employee handbook including staff team values.
  3. Regularly attend Sunday services at a New Life campus.

General Responsibilities:


  1. Carries overall leadership for Student Ministry within the community of New Life Christian Church working within the church’s mission, vision, and values (Vision Frame) to make disciples of students who make disciples of students and are prepared to become adults who make disciples who make disciples
  2. Evaluates the evolving needs of Student Ministry working with the Executive Minister, Campus Pastors, the Family Minister(s), and Student Ministry volunteers to continually improve and grow the student ministry
  3. Create and develop an effective Volunteer Leader Recruitment, Training and Development plan
  4. Creates and executes strategies to connect local students as well as disconnected students at New Life to the student ministry
  5. Organize and maintain Student Ministry Budget
  6. Coordinate with nZone(s) for programming and ways Student Ministry can partner with nZone activities to both serve the nZone’s purposes and grow the Student Ministry


  1. Oversees Student Ministry Volunteer Coordination at New Life
  2. Work with Student Ministry volunteers to set goals and make sure the vision is accomplished
  3. Oversees the annual strategic planning process
    1. Coordinate the yearly calendar (includes weekend trip(s) and weeklong summer trip(s))
    2. Ensure the values and mission of New Life are accounted for and included  
    3. Work with the Campus Pastors and Family Minister(s) to make sure programming conflicts do not happen
    4. Develop curriculum for the year
  4. Build solid relationships with the New Life Staff Volunteers and nZone Staff
    1. Ensure consistent communication
    2. Encourage teamwork and support
    3. Provide leadership and facilitate the nurture of all staff members


  1. Begin and develop relationships with Students
    (including students who attend New Life as well as students who do not currently attend New Life by following Christ’s model of incarnational ministry of going where students are to minister to them)
  2. Oversees Students Ministry Staff and Volunteers
  3. Works with nZone Staff for scheduling and use for the nZone
  4. Works with all ministry areas to achieve the mission of the church
  5. Build relationships with Parents  


  1. Remain current on literature, trends and practices in Student Ministry.
  2. Support other ministries by leading students in serving the local community and body of Christ.
  3. Other duties as assigned

This is a full-time salaried ministerial position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Work Schedule:
Student Ministry is not, and should not, be a 9 to 5 office position. This position requires flexibility in schedule and a commitment to be available to staff during the day and available to students during the evening. Obviously, boundaries are encouraged, and in fact required, for personal and family health. The base expectation is 40 hours not counting time that would be spent as a volunteer if you were not on staff (e.g. small group leader, attending small group, attending men’s breakfast, teaching an adult or children’s class, helping with setup/teardown on Sunday morning, etc.). The above responsibilities are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. The staff at New Life is committed to team ministry that pursues excellence with an attitude of “whatever it takes to get the job done”.  Therefore, additional time may be required outside of regular work hours and normal schedules.
