Full-time Youth Minister

We are looking for someone who has a passion for ministering to Youth and a heart for children to serve as our Youth Minister. It should be their goal to help our students grow into lifelong Disciples of Christ. The main focus of the position is to minister to our youth while overseeing our children’s ministry.

It is expected that you will build relationships with them and their families. And work to aid parents in teaching their faith at home. The youth minister will also need to recruit all needed volunteers, provide them with direction, biblical instruction, encouragement, materials for teaching, and build relationships with them.

We desire an individual with a heart for the Lord and a desire to work with all ages of youth in order to build a dynamic youth ministry.

Shiloh Baptist Church

Shiloh Baptist Church Youth Ministry Intern This position is a learning opportunity through relational ministry to elementary through high school students. The intern will also spend time in general ministry with the pastor. The intern ministry provides the chance to gain practical ministry training work in an atmosphere of personal and professional guidance and support, test their gifts and call to vocational ministry, and develop spiritually and theologically. It also allows Shiloh Baptist to be involved in shepherding the next generation of pastors and leaders in Kingdom ministry.

Overview of duties and job description:

• Be growing spiritually in all areas of Christian life with character in line with 1 st Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1st Peter.

• Be a male student or married couple in college or seminary preparing for the ministry. • Assist in the planning, coordination, and operation of the Youth Ministry.

• Teach in the Youth ministry on Sunday evenings.

• Assist and participate in the leadership of the Youth Advisory Committee.

• Develop relationships and communications with the parents of involved Youth.

• Assist in preparing and administrating the Youth’s ministry budget.

• Be flexible and teachable.

• Assist the pastor and deacons as available to develop ministry skills.

• This is a part-time position of approximately 10 hours a week with a stipend.

• The Youth Ministry Intern is under the immediate supervision of the Pastor.

• Affirm the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

Responsible to the Senior Minister for planning, coordinating, and promoting middle
school and high school programs for grades 6 through 12, and with promoting fellowship
and recreational activities which develop spiritual maturity in youth.

PROFILE OF CHARACTER:
 Theologically sound and biblically faithful

 High moral and ethical character that is reflective in behavior and decision
 Develop and implement creative ways of reaching young people for Jesus Christ.
 Visits in the homes of young people, (with the permission of parents / guardians)
teaching them and taking an interest in their lives.
 Serve as staff coordinator of all youth group programs, including both Sunday and
Wednesday evening youth groups, and organize these groups according to the
needs of our young people.
 Recruit, equip, and train mentors to serve as youth sponsors and Bible School
 Work with mentors in selecting curricular materials, planning activities, and act as
the church resource person in recommending educational materials for all middle
 Direct a program of fellowship, camps, and retreats for the middle and high
school children of Tates Creek Christian Church.
 Plan and provide for small group, outreach, mission awareness, and spiritual
enrichment ministry to middle and high school youth.
 Make available counseling opportunities for middle and high school youth and
maintain competency in crisis intervention counseling.
 Assist the Elementary Minister with Vacation Bible School, if needed.
 Serve as a member and work in harmony with the Youth Ministry Team in
planning and executing youth programs and activities.
 Assist in administration, teaching, preaching, hospital calling, and other
ministerial duties as directed by the Senior Minister.

 Assist in a “transition” ministry with the Minister with Children to get 5th graders
familiar with the Youth program and similarly assist the College Minister with the
12th graders moving into the College program.
To perform this job successfully, it is expected that a high school diploma and likely a
college degree would be required. Specifically that education / training would be in the
area of Christian ministry and likely from a school recognized by the Tates Creek
Christian Church Elders. Proficiency and comfort in the use of the computer and other
technology is vital to success in this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching,
pulling, and lifting up to 40 pounds. In an eight hour shift, this position may require
sitting for five hours and standing or walking for three hours.

Youth minister/Student minister director
