We are all looking optimistically toward the future making spiritual, physical and financial plans to support membership growth.

The Church at Binghamton is primarily first-generation Restoration Christians coming out of denominations, such as Methodist, Presbyterian, and Baptist. In close proximity to our church building are two other churches about our size, one Lutheran and the other Dutch Reformed.  The Binghamton area has several racial and ethnic groups and a great many Catholic and Orthodox churches.

Attendance over the last four years has remained fairly static averaging 24 in Bible School and 47 in Morning Worship. We have been unsuccessful in growth efforts and look forward to changing this trend.  We have a passion for the souls of our friends and neighbors.

The First Church of Christ at Binghamton is a congregation patterned after the Church in the New Testament.  We are an independently governed body under the elders, with the Church made up of members who have confessed publicly their belief in Jesus as God's Son, who have repented and been immersed for the remission of sins. Each week we observe the Lord's Supper as a remembrance of Him.  We believe that all Christians have a responsibility to minister using their individual God-given gifts.

The Church's mission is to carry the Gospel to the world, especially the world we come in contact with each day.  This is emphasized to the congregation through sermons, in-home calling, fellowship events, and special services planned throughout the year.  The Church has an active mission ministry, supporting two designated missions. Approximately 20% of the total giving goes to missions.  Representatives of the designated missions update the congregation of their work.

We have active groups such as Living Stones (over 55), Women’s Bible Study, Women’s Community exercise, and a Life Group.  We have an annual Free Garage Sale, collect food for the local pantries and a Thanksgiving Dinner free to the community.

The Church worships through a blend of contemporary and traditional music each Sunday morning.  They are accompanied by an electronic piano and multimedia system.

The Bible School has classes for children and adults with a special worship program for children (ages 2-6).

The Church has no mortgage or other indebtedness. The budget for 2017 is over $78,000, a faith promise Mission giving goal of over $15,000.

Binghamton is located in south central New York State. It is the connecting point of Routes I-81, I-88, and I-86.  The City of Binghamton, around 47, 000 in population, is the county seat of Broome County with a population of around 200,000.  It is the center of the county's communication, employment, commerce, culture and recreation.

Church Building:  The well-maintained Church building is of brick construction, located on nicely landscaped three acres of land at the junction of NY Route 12 and two county roads.  It is between two large subdivisions of residences and less that half a mile from the centralized school.  The center city of Binghamton itself is about 8 miles to the south.  The sanctuary, with a seating capacity of 200 is on the main level along with lobby, church offices, and restrooms.  An elevator was added in 2016.  The basement houses eight classrooms, kitchen, and fellowship area (folding doors create two separate large class rooms).  The basement also has ground level entrance at the rear of the building from the parking lot with a capacity for more than 55 cars.  The church owns no parsonage.  The building has open-access wifi.

Offices:  There are  two offices located adjacent to the lobby.  Presently the office tasks are performed by volunteers and we employ a  part-time Custodian.

Service Times:

Bible School    9:30 a.m.                 Morning Worship      10:45 a.m.

Brief History:  The Binghamton First Church of Christ (Christian) was begun in October,  1955, with a nucleus of four families meeting in the basement of one of the family's homes. Over the 61 years of existence, First Church has had eight ministers.  Nick Haner came to First Church in 2012. Prior to his ministry the church suffered a split so the last five years have been ones of  healing. During Nick’s ministry he and his young family became a beloved part of First Church. It is with the Lord’s leading and our blessing and support that he is now transitioning into a new full-time mission ministry. We are searching for a new minister to work beside us with God’s direction.
