Worship Leader Opportunity The Rising is a church designed to see people raised to true life. We are a portable church of around 200 people which launched 3 years ago, and meets every Sunday at The Norva in downtown Norfolk. Half of our church is between 20 and 35 years old. The style of music we sing is in the vein of Elevation Worship, Lifepoint Worship, Hillsong, Bethel Music, Rend Collective, Etc. We also cover songs from Billboard’s Top Alternative list occasionally. Great Bridge Community Church Worship Leader Position Description Purpose: To develop and lead the worship music ministry for our church, in consultation with the teaching pastor and other team members, in a way that is consistent with our mission, values, and theology. Responsibilities: Meet with the teaching Pastor as needed to select songs two weeks in advance.
Preparation to lead practice and Sunday morning worship includes:
Personal practice of the songs to ensure knowledge and comfortable leading of the team.
Communication with musicians about practices and songs for the upcoming week. Providing the necessary music sheets/links to musicians at least one week in advance to ensure they have what is needed to prepare at home for the upcoming week Printing out the music for the musicians and singers beforehand for practice Create and update musician/singers schedule
Ensure back-up worship leader is in place before making plans to be away.
Recruit, equip, motivate, supervise and shepherd music team and technical team. Load songs into computer (ProPresenter) no later than Thursday
Prepare music and schedule practices for all-church events such as a Christmas Eve service, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc
Provide input to the annual music ministry budget proposal,
Qualifications: Authentic relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Musical Competencies: Ability in wide range of styles including Christian classics (hymns) but with a focus on contemporary music.
. Benefits: Paid vacation for four Sundays. Additional Sudays off will be negotiated with the teaching pastor and will be unpaid leave. Additional Sick or family emergency time off.
