Greetings from Newland Church of Christ in Warsaw, Virginia.

 

Newland is in the beginning stages of seeking a new minister.  Our current minister has advised us of his intention to retire, but prayerfully with enough notice to find a new minister before his actual leaving. 

 

Newland is a small New Testament congregation in a rural part of Virginia.  There is a potential for growth with the proper leadership.  We are seeking someone who foremost is willing to preach the gospel and serve the Lord.   He should also be interested in calling, visiting and working with young people.

Position Summary

This is a part time position that will seek to develop our worship ministries to further accomplish our mission of cultivating passionate disciples who love God and love others through organizing and growing our congregational worship experience. Particularly, this position will focus on leading worship in Morning and Evening worship service and inspiring all generations towards a growing love for Christ.

 

Qualifications

  1. A heart of worship and service to God that manifests itself in a dynamic prayer life, a whole life surrendered to Christ, and a vibrant walk with Him and a life that is above reproach.
  2. A biblical worldview that is committed to the authority of the Bible as God's uniquely inspired Word and a capacity to demonstrate how a biblical worldview affects worship ministry.

General Considerations

Sunday morning worship services at Geneva Park are “blended” in style and seek to incorporate both hymns and contemporary Christian music.  The Worship Leader will help us extend our contemporary music repertoire as we seek to reach a new generation for Christ.  He/she will help broaden the musical experience of worship in our body.

 

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with the Senior Minister, choose music, practice with Praise Team, and minister through music during Sunday morning.
  • Serve as primary worship leader during Worship service.
  • Develop a team of musicians and train new leaders to assist in leading worship services.
  • Develop Power Point presentations and submit them to the Senior Minister by no later than Wednesday evening.
  • Conduct Praise Team practice on Sunday Morning at 08:00 a.m.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Accountability and Scope of Oversight

This individual is accountable to the Senior Minister for the accomplishment of job duties. In addition, he/she will have the oversight of the worship ministry team.

 

Hours and Compensation

Hours are flexible due to the varied nature of this work. In the typical week, one would invest 5 hours, though actual amounts from week to week may vary.  The Worship Leader will track hours worked and submit them to the Senior Minister every Sunday. Compensation will be $50 per week – paid bi-weekly.

Purpose of Boulevard Christian Church:
We are a family of dedicated believers, glorifying God, and impacting our community.  

Purpose of the Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister: Birth – 5th Grade):
To orchestrate and assist with leadership, teaching, and program direction of all children’s ministries, Birth through 5th Grade.

Principal Function:
This position provides a strong approach to reaching the youngest age group in the church and community. Being able to use creative energy, guidance and gain support is key. Equipping, empowering and releasing of others into this ministry will be crucial. Organizing and motivating volunteer leaders is central.  Responsibilities will include communicating the vision of the church and implementing it on a community and church wide level.

The Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister) should be a person who is committed to:

1.    Excellence.  We do all things as unto the Lord, and believe God deserves our best efforts.  Also, because we exist to make disciples, we are eager to do things with excellence.  If we fail to strive for excellence, we often compromise the effectiveness of our mission. The Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister) should be a person who is:

2.    Passionate about the spiritual lives of children.  There must be a sense of calling, so that this leader feels the compelling desire to reach preschoolers at a their level, and is able to convey and pass on this joy and enthusiasm in infectious ways.   This is a position for a dynamic person.  
3.    Flexible.  This type of ministry, perhaps more than many other types of ministry, calls for an innovative, visionary, highly adaptable person who can creatively assess the constantly changing situation and intuitively lead forward without fear.  This is a position for adaptability. 
4.    Trustworthy.  Part of maturity is keeping confidences and protecting the witness and integrity of the church of Christ.  Loyalty to ministry staff and leaders, and to Boulevard Christian Church is essential. This is a position of great responsibility.  
5.    A leader.  This position calls for strong, positive leadership, and the ability to make a decision and act decisively. A leader is one who has earned a position in which others gladly, willingly, and trustingly follow.  This is a leadership position.  
6.    Goal oriented.  This person must be able to make steady progress on long-term goals while simultaneously handling various short-term concerns. Must be able to see the “big picture” and yet implement at a “detail level.”  This is a focused position.  
7.    Both task-driven and people-oriented.   While accomplishing many tasks, it is essential that a commitment to caring about people remain at the center of this person’s values. Anything less runs counter to our purpose and mission as a church. This is a multi-tasking position.  
8.    A servant with a positive attitude.  Attitude is everything, and this person will see this position as a ministry of service to others.  More important than specific skills or ability is the heart for ministry. It requires the Christ-like posture of helpfulness and service, while at the same time maintaining careful stewardship of time and the church’s resources.  This is a ministry position.  
9.    Responsive to oversight.  This person must be able to implement and relay plans, and respond to directives from the Senior Pastor and the Eldership.  
10.    Skilled in relationships.  The effectiveness of the position hinges on the ability to relate well in many different personal relationships.  This is a “people-position.”
11.    A Team player.  As a staff we support and encourage one another.  We yield our own “turf” when necessary to promote the overall good and success of the church’s mission.  All ministry areas work together.  This is a team position. 
12.    Filled with a sense of humor. This person should be able to take this position seriously, but also be able NOT to take themselves too seriously.  


Personal Abilities and Competencies 
The Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister) should possess ability as:

1.    Skilled leader:  Leading a children’s ministry is somewhat crazy at times.  It is dynamic, always changing, and can sometimes creates difficult circumstances.  This person must be skilled at building consensus, getting people to work together, communicating well, motivating a wide range of people, and maintaining a Christ-like spirit which produces positive morale and positive esprit de corps. The key here is the ability to work well with people on a variety of levels. 
2.    Effective worker:  Equally important is the need to be effective at accomplishing things. Needed are project management skills which enable this person to size up a situation, organize what needs to be done, and then get going and get things done, follow through, and evaluate for the future.  The key here is about getting things done.  

Within these two primary competencies, specific skills that are needed include: 

A.    Organizer:  Skills with assembling tasks according to priorities and efficiently managing time and resources of self and the entire church 
B.    Motivator: Skills with moving individuals and a group of people toward a common goal with everyone “on board” 
C.    Overseer of volunteer workers:  Skills with recruiting, equipping/training, and releasing volunteers is essential.  Ability to evaluate performance and motivate toward success is needed
D.    Communicator:  Skills in both written and verbal means of communication is vital.
E.    Change Agent.  Implementation of a vision always requires leadership that is able to move toward a goal.  Because as a church we have a mission of making disciples, all staff must possess skill in smoothly and sensitively making changes in order to fulfill our mission. While honoring our rich history, creativity and innovation are important traits of an agent of change.  


Primary Responsibilities 

The Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister) is responsible for (in order of priority):

1.    Children’s Ministries 
A.    Serve Children’s Ministries.
1.    Identify the needs and interests of children from Birth to 5th Grade within the church and community.
2.    Plan, develop and oversee programs for the children’s ministry.
3.    Evaluate existing program to determine effectiveness.
4.    Identify and provide ministry opportunities for the members of Boulevard Christian Church.
B.    Communicate with volunteer leaders to pray, discuss upcoming events, challenges, solutions and praises. 
C.    Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers and potential leaders.
D.    Attend regular Children’s Team meetings and/or other necessary meetings

1.    Special Events and Outreach projects as necessary 
These may include
A.    Special events 
B.    Evangelism and Outreach efforts.
C.    Staff retreats

1.     General Ministerial responsibilities as necessary or assigned
A.    Meeting with people to share the mission of the church, etc.

Relationships of Support and Accountability

1.    The Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister) will work closely with other staff and volunteers, especially those in other areas of Children’s Ministries, and under the supervision of the Senior Pastor and Eldership.  It is expected that there will be regular meetings and open communication to facilitate a harmonious working relationship. Like other staff, the Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister) is ultimately responsible to the Elders.  

2.    The Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister) will work with a team of volunteer leaders in areas to help lead the ministry.  This working group becomes a source of mutual support, accountability, and feedback.  

3.    The Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister) will attend regular staff meetings and periodic retreats to promote coordination and mutual support, and to participate as a helpful and contributing member of the staff team. 

4.    The Senior Pastor and Eldership, in coordination with the Children’s Ministry Volunteer Team, will be responsible for review and evaluation of the Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister), to be conducted formally at least annually.  In addition, quarterly goals will be established and shared in writing, and will form the substance of quarterly reviews. 

5.    The Director of Children’s Ministries (Children’s Minister) will maintain close working relationships with key personnel around them:  the leadership, pastoral and support staff, and volunteer staff.

This is a part-time position that works in conjunction with the Pastor to lead, grow, and challenge people. Compensation will begin at $10,400/yr., with the incentive for more as growth occurs. In the past our youth have met on a bi-weekly basis with adult volunteers. There will be flexibility with this position for vision and building.

Courtney is a registered nurse and helps tremendously with the Church.  She has past experiences as a youth mentor at her local church in Ohio and actively participates at ENCC in the women’s ministry, young adult ministry, worship, and other opportunities.

Chapel Hill Christian Church a church of 700+ located in Kokomo, IN is looking for a Director of Worship and Creative Arts.  


The Director of Worship & Creative Arts is responsible for the effective day-to-day implementation of the mission, vision and values of Chapel Hill Christian Church.  This position will accomplish this objective primarily through the development and implementation of a weekend worship experience that is spirit-led, engaging and relevant.  In order to accomplish this objective it is paramount that this position recruit, train, and equip an ever-increasing base of volunteers to actively contribute to the goal.  Included within this position is incorporating and managing creative elements that will contribute to the weekend worship experience.
