             Children's Ministry Director

Duties and Responsibilities

The CM Director is responsible to the Lead Minister for overseeing the planning, coordinating, and implementing of programs and special events for children from birth through fifth grade.  As Broad Creek Christian Church is in a transitioning period focused on growth (both spiritually and numerically), the CM Director's primary responsibility will be the new development and deployment of a holistic program for children ages birth - 5th grade.  The CM Director will champion the vision & mission of BCCC as it relates to the children’s ministry.  That will include a minimum of the following:

  • Work with lead minister and key leaders in casting a vision specifically for the Children’s Ministry which includes Sunday morning programming and special events.
  • Recruiting and training CM team members and empowering them for service.
  • Planning and executing special events to capture the attention of children and families in order to introduce them to BCCC.
  • Follow-up with new families that have checked their children into our programming.
  • Assist in the development of an assimilation strategy for new families with children in the CM.
  • Assist the Office Manager in maintaining the church database records for CM families.
  • Assist in planning and maintaining the annual CM budget.
  • Cooperate with local and state leaders in promoting activities of mutual interest in the community.
  • Attend a yearly training event of your choosing that is approved by the Lead Minister.
  • Create environments that are attractive and conducive to appropriate children's age groups.
  • Comply with state and local laws concerning suspected abuse of children

Lead Minister (part-time)

Position Description

             Youth Minister

Duties and Responsibilities

The Youth Minister is responsible to the Lead Minister for overseeing the planning, coordinating, and implementing of programs and special events for youth in grades 6-12.  The Youth Minister's primary responsibility will be the new development and deployment of a holistic program for youth.  The Youth Minister will champion the vision & mission of BCCC as it relates to the Youth Ministry.  That will include a minimum of the following:

Instruments Preferred: Guitar & efficient in piano is preferred
Skills Preferred: He will be responsible for all areas of worship including the worship center. This would mean that he does not have to be an expert in all areas, but he will be the leader so there has to be a good base. Would want him to be an expert in communicating a message in an excellent way that draws people into worship. He will need to be able to arrange music. Read and play music on a piano so that he can lead the choir in practice. We use Proclaim for our presentation software so he would have to learn how to do that, but it is easy to learn.
Years of Experience: 5+ of full time worship ministry experience required
Reports to: Responsible to the Senior Pastor. Practice and support the constitution of the church. Practice and support the policies and procedures of the church. Make fill-in arrangements when unable to perform duties as described during services or practices.

Director of Children Ministry

The Director is to function in the capacity of a paid Christian worker and serving God with special emphasis on children from nursery through 5th grade.
Work with the Education Ministry Team and its leader in developing and maintaining effective Sunday morning Bible school and Children's Church programs; Wednesday night activities; children's social activities and Vacation Bible School.  Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fulfill the regular preaching and teaching responsibilities for Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night, and other teaching occasions as needed. He will coordinate service plans and themes with the music ministry team, ministerial staff, and communicate these plans to the leadership.
  • Coordinate and supervise special classes as needed for new members, those considering membership, or those desiring a review of basic Christian teaching.
  • Maintain regular office hours, setting sufficient hours for study and administrative work, working with the ministerial staff and coordinating the schedules. There is flexibility on the days and times the senior minister is in the church office.
  • Be responsible for coordinating visitation, including hospital calls, shut-in calls, prospect calls, member cultivation, and counseling calls
  • Meet weekly with staff (ministerial/office) to help plan and coordinate the services, visitation responsibilities, and other ministry activities of the Church. He will have the responsibility for the oversight of the daily activities of the staff (ministerial/office).  At this time, the staff includes a full-time children’s minister, part-time youth ministers, and an office assistant
  • Be available to conduct and coordinate funerals as needed.
  • Provide pre-marital counseling and perform weddings at his discretion, within the Biblical guidelines
  • Participate, coordinate, and encourage participation in small groups, classes, and other ministries, including Blue Ridge Christian Camp events.
  • Represent the Church and its ministry to the community, being a spokesman for the congregation and an ambassador of Christ.
  • Be expected to attend and participate in Community Christian Church functions and outreach events.
  • Attend scheduled and called meetings with the Elders.

 

 Salary and Benefits

 

Salary:  $50,000 - $57,000 (Depending on Experience) with the Senior Minister having the responsibility for insurance, taxes, and expenses.  The senior minister will be paid on the second and fourth Sunday of each month, after services have been rendered. 

 Leave:  During the first fiscal year as Senior Minister at Community Christian Church, the Senior Minister will have 3 weeks (15 days) of paid vacation/sick/personal days.  These days may not be carried over from year to year.

 

Conference Attendance:  Each year of employment at CCC, the senior minister may attend the North American Christian Conference (or another conference as approved by the Elders).  Attendance to this conference should be for a time of spiritual renewal.  Therefore, attendance to this conference will not require the use of vacation time.  The church will fund, up to $1500, the minister’s attendance to the conference (travel, room, food, & registration).  If the minister chooses to take his family to the conference, he will be responsible for the additional expenses.  

 

Holidays Off:  The regularly scheduled holidays observed by Community Christian Church include New Year’s Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.  If any of the above mentioned days fall Monday through Friday of the calendar year, the church office will be closed and all ministers will have the day off, with pay.  Please note, Community Christian Church has a long tradition of a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service that we plan to continue.  It is expected that the Senior Minister be involved, unless otherwise approved by the Elders.

Full-time Youth minister needed.   We are seeking a man with a Bachelor’s degree from a Restoration Movement college to do Full-time youth ministry @ Winifred Road Church of Christ  (WRCC) in Cumberland, Maryland.  Working mostly with grades 6-12 in teaching and spiritual guidance he would also oversee the children’s ministry.  His ministry opportunities would include developing, equipping, and guiding a youth ministry team, community interaction, visits, conferences, camp, concerts, missions, sports, etc.  He would also assist in calling, preaching, planning + administration within the larger church body.  He would lead Wednesday’s teen program called “The Next Chapter” and oversee the “Kids for Christ” child evangelism program.

  • Responsible for collecting quotes, negotiating terms, and contracting (with the approval of the Elders) for all insurance policies, ongoing contracts, and other purchases.

  • Serve as the Staff representative to the Personnel Committee for the evaluation of personnel policies and benefits.
  • Select, coordinate, and maintain the optimal use of all office equipment including computer (hardware and software), inter office network, Internet services, and phone system. This includes the church management software (member database) and financial software.
  • Responsible for the approval of the design and production of all church communications, including any or all of the following: website, social media sites, church app, electronic or printed newsletters, Sunday morning bulletin. This includes ordering any outside graphic design work.
  • Provide direct supervision of the Facility Manager, custodial, and secretarial staffs, taking the necessary actions to maintain a high level of effectiveness.
  • Maintain the church calendar, scheduling events for all church programs, van usage, community organizations, weddings, etc.
  • Coordinate the church calendar with all the staff including the custodial and secretarial staffs. This includes making sure the Ministerial Staff is scheduled for daily hospital visits and the desired number of Ministers in the office each day.
  • Organize programs and schedule within the LIFE Ministries for the safe and effective use of the building for exercise and fellowship. Collect the annual LIFE Ministries Membership Fee from users not members of TCCC.
  • Serve as the Staff representative to Facilities Ministry Team.
  • Supervise inventory supplies such as office supplies and dry goods.
  • Ensure adequate facilities, multi-media equipment, audio-visual equipment, supplies etc. are available for Bible School Classes, Wednesday Evening Classes, and Church Bible Studies, which are on site.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Senior Minister.

Vocational Qualifications:

      Required:

  • Must be a Baptized (immersed) Believer.
  • Meet Elder qualifications of 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.
  • Fully believes and supports the entire Bible as God’s Word.
  • Fully understands and supports the Restoration Movement as it relates to and is faithful to Scripture.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from a Bible College or Seminary (Restoration Movement).
  • Passionately embody God’s Word through daily living, exhibiting a good moral character and practicing regular Spiritual disciplines.
  • Be a skilled and passionate Bible based teacher.
  • Maintain relational, spiritual, and professional trust with other elders and staff.

      Preferred:

  • 5 years of ministry experience in a Restoration Movement Church.
  • Degree in Bible/Theology/Youth or related field.

Organizational Relationship:

  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in technology associated with teaching, preaching and outreach.
  • Proficient in Social Media.
  • Have good interpersonal dynamics to work with other staff.

 

Personal Growth and Renewal:

     

  • He gives great attention to his own personal walk with Jesus and displays noticeable evidences of spiritual authenticity.
  • He emulates the life of Jesus and the students can see Jesus in the way he lives his life.
  • He has built accountability safeguards into his life.
