Full-time Youth Minister

Full-time Youth minister needed.   We are seeking a man with a Bachelor’s degree from a Restoration Movement college to do Full-time youth ministry @ Winifred Road Church of Christ  (WRCC) in Cumberland, Maryland.  Working mostly with grades 6-12 in teaching and spiritual guidance he would also oversee the children’s ministry.  His ministry opportunities would include developing, equipping, and guiding a youth ministry team, community interaction, visits, conferences, camp, concerts, missions, sports, etc.  He would also assist in calling, preaching, planning + administration within the larger church body.  He would lead Wednesday’s teen program called “The Next Chapter” and oversee the “Kids for Christ” child evangelism program.

 WRCC mission statement is CONNECT to God and others, GROW together,  GO to the lost.  We have 2 services on Sunday morning (1 Blended, 1 contemporary,) with an average weekly attendance of 110 (including 20 children).  Current leadership includes 2 ministers, 4 elders, 1 deacon, 1 youth intern, and a volunteer secretary.

 GENERAL FUNCTION:

Responsible to the Senior Minister and the Elders for all the business, financial, and facility management of the church operation. This includes structures and systems for church communication and oversight of some ministerial and support staff.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Supervise and seek to improve our system of financial accountability seeking to keep the church programs operating within budget. Staff representative to the Financial Ministry Team.
  • Responsible for preparation and compilation of annual budget for consideration and approval of the Elders.
  • Responsible for collecting quotes, negotiating terms, and contracting (with the approval of the Elders) for all insurance policies, ongoing contracts, and other purchases.
  • Coordinate, negotiate, and contract (with the approval of the Elders) for all personnel benefits, including health insurance policies, on an annual basis.
  • Serve as the Staff representative to the Personnel Committee for the evaluation of personnel policies and benefits.
  • Select, coordinate, and maintain the optimal use of all office equipment including computer (hardware and software), inter office network, Internet services, and phone system. This includes the church management software (member database) and financial software.
  • Responsible for the approval of the design and production of all church communications, including any or all of the following: website, social media sites, church app, electronic or printed newsletters, Sunday morning bulletin. This includes ordering any outside graphic design work.
  • Provide direct supervision of the Facility Manager, custodial, and secretarial staffs, taking the necessary actions to maintain a high level of effectiveness.
  • Maintain the church calendar, scheduling events for all church programs, van usage, community organizations, weddings, etc.
  • Coordinate the church calendar with all the staff including the custodial and secretarial staffs. This includes making sure the Ministerial Staff is scheduled for daily hospital visits and the desired number of Ministers in the office each day.
  • Organize programs and schedule within the LIFE Ministries for the safe and effective use of the building for exercise and fellowship. Collect the annual LIFE Ministries Membership Fee from users not members of TCCC.
  • Serve as the Staff representative to Facilities Ministry Team.
  • Supervise inventory supplies such as office supplies and dry goods.
  • Ensure adequate facilities, multi-media equipment, audio-visual equipment, supplies etc. are available for Bible School Classes, Wednesday Evening Classes, and Church Bible Studies, which are on site.
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the Senior Minister.

 QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this ministry job successfully, it is expected that the candidate have a college degree. Specifically, that education / training would be in an area of business or accounting. Formal biblical education or a proven understanding of biblical knowledge and ministry is also essential to success in this position. Previous experience as an Executive Minister is preferred but not required. Proficiency and comfort in the use of the computer and other technology is vital to success in this position.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, pulling, and lifting up to 40 pounds.  In an eight-hour shift, this position may require sitting for six hours and standing or walking for two hours.

Preaching Minister

The East Northport Christian Church is seeking a full-time or part time Preacher. Candidate should be interested in the North East as a mission field and make a minimum of a two year commitment. We are located 40 miles from NYC in East Northport ,Long Island.   • Lead students in domestic & international mission trips with our current ministry partners. 
  • Lead both middle and high school students in at least one weekend conference/retreat a year. 
  • Be involved/lead a week of camp at our local camp. 
  • Regularly schedule events to provide on ramps for non-church students.
  • Be as involved as possible in schools or clubs in order to create avenues to meet new students.
  • Regularly meeting with students for lunch/coffee/ or small group studies. 
4. Engage the family unit of students– 10%
The student minister will be a resource to parents by way of providing insight, tools, even classes to help parents become the primary spiritual influence their students lives.
  • Be available for meetings, phone calls, counseling sessions. 
  • Provide tools such as books, websites, newsletters, videos, etc. 
  • Periodically provide parenting classes (does not have to be taught by student minister).  
5. Personal and Professional Development-10%
One of the most important aspects of leadership is self-leadership. This allows a pastor to lead from a solid foundation and out of the overflow of his heart and soul. 
  • Maintain a vibrant devotional life including Bible reading, prayer and other spiritual disciplines.

The primary responsibility of the Associate Pastor of Family Ministries is to oversee the spiritual needs of the Youth and the development of Family Ministries.

 

Reports to: Senior Pastor 

 

Responsibilities – Youth/Student Ministry:

 

  • Responsible for all aspects of ensuring the spiritual growth and development of students grades 6 through 12 and college age Students. This includes preparing and preaching the Sunday Youth Services, leadership of weekly programs and periodic special events (camps, conferences, trips, service projects, etc.).
  • Provide overall theological direction in accordance with the beliefs of NCC.
  • Develop student and adult youth leaders
  • Model strong and relational Christian leadership to the youth of the church
  • Create and lead ministry programs that resonate with the college-aged and young adult community.
  • The Associate Pastor will work in cooperation with the Pastor and elders in ministering to the student’s family as we strive to build within our church family strong marriages, parent-child relationships and families who love God.
  • Responsible for the preparation and supervision of the Youth Ministry Budget. The Associate Pastor will also lead the creative use and proactive upkeep of Youth Ministry facilities and grounds.


Responsibilities – Family Ministries:

 

  • Further develop a fully realized Family Ministry program to include:
    • Develop and Support fellowship and study opportunities for families through Small Groups.
    • Assimilate individuals and families into groups and the life of the church.
    • Develop & maintain a follow up strategy to connect individuals to ministry and service opportunities at NCC.
  •  
    • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor in developing an effective vision, philosophy and strategy for family ministry.
    • Selecting curriculum and developing and leading programs and events that help us accomplish the vision for family ministry.

 

Additional Responsibilities

 

  • Meet with and report to Senior Pastor and NCC Elders. 
  • Carry out other Pastoral duties as required in the life of the church as determined by the Senior Pastor

Job Description: Lead Ministry Intern Summary​:​

 

This intern would work closely with the Lead Minister and other volunteers at CCC in the areas of: teaching - help/learn to teach/preach prayerfully, biblically, relevantly, authentically, and passionately as we lead believers to take their next steps, and new people take first steps to grow to trust in Jesus Christ. Also in leadership development - as they would learn to help develop and empower Ministry Leaders in the Church. This includes but is not limited to praying, leading meetings, casting vision, encouraging, shepherding, and communicating with leaders and teams in all areas of ministry. Also in Outreach ministry - learning how to develop and maintain strategic partnerships with organizations in our community in order to help improve our community together, and thus share the Gospel and it’s restorative power in both word and deed.

 

Expectations:

● Time​ - this intern would be full time (40-45 hrs a week) or whatever the University requires for their internship. We will provide an office for them to work out of here at the facility. They will be required to work in the office for at least a portion of time during the week but can work mobily from a local coffee shop or favorite spot if they choose.

● Meetings​ - this intern would be required to sit in on weekly staff meetings, monthly leadership (Elder) meetings, and monthly Ministry Team meetings.

● Conduct​ - we expect interns to conduct themselves in a growing Christ-like manner. They are to view and treat all others the way we are taught by Jesus. We also expect interns to be professional but personal with people.

Position Description

Purpose:

To develop and lead the worship music ministry for our church, in consultation with the teaching pastor and other team members, in a way that is consistent with our mission, values, and theology.

Responsibilities:

Meet with the teaching Pastor as needed to select songs two weeks in advance.

 

Preparation to lead practice and Sunday morning worship includes:

 

Personal practice of the songs to ensure knowledge and comfortable leading of the team.

 

Communication with musicians about practices and songs for the upcoming week.

Providing the necessary music sheets/links to musicians at least one week in advance to ensure they have what is needed to prepare at home for the upcoming week

Printing out the music for the musicians and singers beforehand for practice

Create and update musician/singers schedule

 

Ensure back-up worship leader is in place before making plans to be away.

 

Recruit, equip, motivate, supervise and shepherd music team and technical team. 

Load songs into computer (ProPresenter) no later than Thursday


File music, prepare binders for musicians


Type/copy/distribute Order of Service


Prepare special numbers from time-to-time


Provide  required reports for CCLI.

Prepare music and schedule practices for all-church events such as a Christmas Eve service, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc

 

Provide input to the annual music ministry budget proposal,

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for planning, coordinating, and developing High School and College-age programs and activities that will lead those involved in developing and nurturing their relationship with Jesus Christ and will create a desire to bring others to know Jesus.  This position reports to the Senior Minister.

PROFILE OF CHARACTER:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a life filled with the Fruits of the Spirit and as demonstrated by a love as defined by 1 Corinthians 13.  In addition, the candidate must:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Develop, plan and promote relationship-building activities and Spiritual-growth retreats (i.e. CIY, Passion Conference, etc).
  • Plan and provide small group activities, outreach and mission opportunities, and spiritual enrichment ministry.
  • Make available counseling opportunities for high school and college students and maintain competency in crisis intervention counseling.
  • Serve as a member and work in harmony with the Youth and College Ministry Teams in planning and executing youth and college-age programs and activities.
  • Work in conjunction with the Children’s Minister to prepare 8th graders for the transition to the High School Ministry.
  • Explore current and/or develop on-campus ministry opportunities at the University of Kentucky and Transylvania University.
  • Assist in administration, teaching, preaching, hospital calling, and other ministerial duties as directed by the Senior Minister.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • To perform this job successfully, it is expected that a high school diploma and likely a college degree would be required. Specifically that education / training would be in the area of Christian ministry and likely from a school recognized by the Tates Creek Christian Church Elders. Proficiency and comfort in the use of the computer and other technology is vital to success in this position.
  • Must be an ordained Minister or possess qualifications, character and desire to become ordained.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

 This position requires standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, pulling, and lifting up to 40 pounds. In an eight-hour shift, this position may require sitting for five hours and standing or walking for three hours.
