We are looking for someone who has a strong belief in God, and in His Son, Jesus Christ.  This person would take over the duties of preaching, teaching and encouraging our members.  He should be focused on evangelism; helping us all to grow spiritually and in number.  We are a small congregation.  We have a solid nucleus of believers, with two elders and two deacons at the present time.  And our unity is strong. We need more young people because they are the future of Christ’s church.

     Two trial sermons and a positive congregational vote would be required.  Salary, insurance, and housing allowance will be discussed with each candidate later, at his convenience.

Director of Children’s Ministry

Job Description

 

Position Summary

The Director of Children’s Ministry provides leadership and management for the Children’s Ministry at the Church of Christ at Manor Woods (infants through 5th grade). CCMW offers full programming on Sundays (averaging 40 children/week), Vacation Bible School, and other special events.  The Director of Children’s Ministry is responsible for oversight and coordination of all areas of children’s ministry. The key skills for this position are training church members to minister to children, coordinating volunteers, biblically sound teaching, and equipping parents to guide the spiritual development  of their children.

 

Accountability

The Director of Children’s Ministry reports directly to the Senior Minister and is overseen by, and responsible to, the elders of the congregation.

 

Responsibilities

Children’s Ministry

1)      Recruit and supervise volunteer personnel for the children in Sunday School, Children’s Worship and Evening Activities (all ages) and any related Christian Education areas as necessary:

●       Help determine and implement curriculum;

●       Develop and train volunteers and workers;

●       Be a visible presence and point of contact for families;

●       Assist in setting calendar of events and scheduling of volunteers;

●       Promote key events through special mailings, social media, and church bulletin;

●       Assist with some opening, greeting, and set-up of ministries;

●       Lead training meetings each year with this team for prayer, encouragement, and planning;

●       Maintain database with children’s information;

●       Develop and maintain a “Teacher Approval List.”

2)     Coordinate Sunday School classes for children.

3)     Plan special outreach events at key times such as Christmas and/or Easter.

4)     Lead summer outreach ministry.

5)     Work to build morale among the volunteer teachers: listening, being available to talk when needed.

6)     Ensure each volunteer has a copy of the Child Care Guidelines and understands them. Also ensures all children’s ministries operate according to approved policies and procedures.

7)     Help children be enthusiastic and engaged at church: attractive classrooms, being available to welcome children on Sunday mornings, special events, etc.

 

Staff

1)      Care for families of the church.

2)     Attend the weekly staff meeting and provide regular updates to elders/leadership.

3)     Make himself/herself available for meetings with church families as necessary.

 

Qualifications

●       A love of children with a passion for them to learn about, love, and accept Jesus as their personal Savior.

●       A clear Christian testimony, along with a desire to grow in grace.

●       Alignment with the church’s vision, mission, and core values.

●       Willingness to lead others under the leadership of the Senior Minister.

●       Strong communication and coordination skills.

●       Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Education or Children’s Ministry).

 

Hours

POSITION:

New Hope Christian Center is a non-denominational church located about 30 miles north of Fort Wayne, IN in a town called Waterloo. Attendance currently runs around 350 each week. Currently, the church offers three services: 6:00pm Saturday night, 9:00am and 10:30am Sunday morning. Saturday evening and Sunday morning services are identical with a full worship team and live preaching. New Hope is currently looking to bring on a new Worship Arts Pastor to add to their team. Reporting to the Executive Pastor, the Worship Arts Pastor has the primary responsibility of cultivating a life-giving, passionate, and skillful culture of worship at New Hope Christian Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Recruit, schedule, and resource all worship team volunteers (vocal, band, and tech).
  • Contribute to service programming ideas.
  • Execute and produce service programming with appropriate flow, transitions, and ministry moments with all volunteers.
  • Implement then maintain the use of Planning Center Services for service programming and volunteer management.

Mission Statement:

The goal of the Youth Ministry (Middle and High School) is to present the gospel to the lost and as they respond and make decisions for Christ, to create an environment that encourages and educates existing students while evangelizing even more for the glory of God.

 

Supervision:

The Youth Pastor reports to the Lead Pastor for spiritual and ministry guidance. The Lead Pastor and the board of directors provide an annual evaluation of the Youth Pastor’s performance, based on an agreed Ministry Action Plan.

 

The Primary Task:

More specifically, you will develop and implement a comprehensive approach to student ministry. This comprehensive approach is based on the understanding of the primary task of youth ministry to:

    • Disciple the youth and young adults into a personal relationship with God in both large group and smaller relational environments
    • Grow the youth ministry by creating attractive and compelling environments to which our youth can invite their non-Christian friends.
    • Build a team of passionate adult youth coaches to help mentor and disciple the youth
    • Teach the youth and young adults the Gospel and what that requires from them
    • Provide them with opportunities for nurture and growth
    • Show Jesus’ love through modeling
    • Challenge the youth and young adults to respond to God’s call to serve in their communities and world
    • Support and assist the parents in the process of discipling their youth

Responsibilities:

  1. Be an advocate for youth and young adults and educate the congregation about the hopes, concerns and needs of youth in the local church and community.
  2. Stay abreast of new resources and changes in youth ministry and youth culture and adjust our programming as needed to maintain a current and effective program.
  3. Share these changes with the parents to assist them in better understanding their youth and the culture they live in.
  4. Recruit and train volunteers to serve in various aspects of youth, and young adult ministry and ensure adequate adult to youth ratios.
  5. Be a liaison between the church and other community organizations, people, and resources that relate to youth ministries.
  6. Coordinate a weekly curriculum for youth (grades 6-12) and recruit youth coaches to assist with the weekly teaching and mentoring the youth.
  7. Provide leadership for youth coaches, mentors, and parents beyond the classroom.
  8. Work in partnership with schools in the area to effectively reach youth in the community and develop a strategic ministry outreach plan.
  9. Keep records of youth participation and manage the youth ministry budget.

10.  Communicate with the youth and parents in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available resources (email, website, bulletin, newsletter, texting, etc.). This includes a quarterly parent’s newsletter, regular parent emails regarding upcoming events, weekly youth check in texts and periodic articles in the weekly walk.  

11.  Be available to encourage, challenge, and counsel the youth, young adults and parents towards effective lives as followers of Jesus (i.e. lunch at school, after school visits, attendance at extracurricular activities, home visitations, and support during times of crisis, etc.)

12.  Work in concert with the gifts and talents of other staff members and maintain a strong teamwork mentality.

13.  Attend all Staff and church board meetings as well as any other regular scheduled meetings.

 

Qualifications and Aptitudes:

  1. Must be a born again believer with passion and focus on your own personal spiritual walk.
  2. Must show a faithful pursuit of leadership characteristics as listed in 1 Timothy
  3. A relational and pastoral heart
  4. A degree in ministerial studies or 2 to 5 years of experience as a youth pastor.
  5. Must have vision and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement a student and family ministry within the parameters of the church.
  6. Must have good written and verbal communication skills, conflict management skills, and computer skills.
  7. Must have a proven ability to work effectively with youth, young adults, parents, diverse individuals, and teams of volunteers.

§ Implement safety and security procedures for the children’s ministry program as a whole.

General Purpose of Position:

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and implement curriculum for our Children’s Church Time (ages 3-10) that will be held in conjunction with normal church service from 10 – 11 AM each Sunday
  • Plan, develop, and implement all aspects of a balanced youth ministry to include Jr. and Sr. High students in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach.  Youth programs will be administered each Sunday morning/evening.  Family Minister will help determine specific time and program structure.
  • Recruit and help train volunteers to support Children’s Church and Youth Ministry to ensure adequate volunteer support and adult to youth ratios
  • Communicate in a timely manner and as effectively as possible using all available resources (Facebook, email, website, bulletin boards, etc.)
