Avoca Christian Church is an Independent Christian church with an average weekly attendance of 400+ in Bristol,Tennessee. ACC is seeking a dynamic, energetic Children's Minister to provide leadership, professional direction and oversight to volunteer leaders, teachers and assistants for Tadpole Park (ages 6 weeks to PreK) and Kidztown Ministry (grades K through 6th grade). The Children's Minister will be under the direct supervision of the Senior Minister and accountable to the Elders. This position is a member of the ministry team consisting of the Senior Minister, Youth Minister, Adult Education Minister, Evangelism and Involvement Minister, Worship Minister, Parish Nurse, Administrator and Financial Manager/Treasurer. The church additionally supports a full service Three-Star Childcare Center with two co-directors.
Responsibilities Include, but not limited to:
Development and Supervision of an age appropriate approach to children's Christian educational curriculum and development programs, including Sunday morning and Sunday evening and/or Wednesday evenings as well as Vacation Bible School, Christian Holiday programs and Kidz Outreach events, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.
Serve as a "spark plug" to create excitement and enthusiasm for the children's ministry program and lead children to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Recruit, select, train and lead an active, highly engaged team of volunteers necessary to support a highly active children's educational ministry.
Schedule volunteers as needed for children's ministry programs and other church events as required.
Provide pastoral care to children including hospital visitation, counseling, spiritual direction and encouragement.
Partner with parents and/or other influential adults in the child's life to connect, communicate, disciple and train children in Christian principles.

A degree in Children's Ministry or related degree is preferred but not required. Three to five years work experience leading children’s ministry or children's education is preferable. Growing relationship with Jesus Christ and an active prayer life is essential.
