The 2012 Griffin Awards

The Griffin Awards began in the Spring semester of 2011 as a challenge to students to demonstrate their creative talents in the medium of filmmaking. The Griffin Awards continue on today to offer the same challenge to students and student-applicants with the hope of winning a scholarship. Each January the Enrollment Staff provides the students the prerequisites of each film entry. These prerequisites are both technical and thematic or inspirational. Students may then choose from, or certain items or themes that need to be incorporated into their video.

Participants compete for scholarships, where the top three are awarded. Miss Congeniality receives a $250 scholarship, the First-Runner Up receives a $500 scholarship, and The Griffin Award receives a $1,000 scholarship. All video entries are evaluated for perquisites, theme and artistic interpretation. Members of the Enrollment and Student Life staff then vote for that year’s best three submissions. |

The submitted films are used by MACU recruitment teams at camps and youth conferences to communicate a culture that is distinctly MACU.
