Kids Against Hunger
Approximately 70% of Haiti's population is undernourished to some degree with infants and children suffering the most. Kids Against Hunger food is a specially formulated, fast cooking rice based combination of vitamins, soy, dehydrated vegetables and other nutrients that provide in one serving 75% of a child's daily requirements for a healthy diet.

MACU Food Bagging Project
In coordination with LifeLine Christian Mission we will host a food bagging project on campus for our Martin Luther King Day of Service. Each volunteer saves or raises $50 each to cover the cost of the food, nutritional supplements, and shipping boxed meals to Haiti. Volunteers will work in groups of 50 and spend about three hours in the MACU gym working in shifts to measure, bag, weigh, box and stack boxes on pallets to be loaded in a container for shipping.

How You Can Get Involved
Schools and some business are closed January 18, 2010 for the Martin Luther King holiday. Make it a church or family opportunity for students and adults not working and come to MACU to participate in this rewarding service project. Anyone who is able to stand and focus on an assembly line like process for about two hours is welcome to volunteer. Groups should plan to be on campus for about 3 hours as training & debriefing are part of the experience. Volunteers that register early may choose a specific time slot but as these fill your group will be assigned a time.

Individuals, church groups and families will register through the MACU Admissions office. All contributions are eligible for a tax deduction and checks are to be made out to MACU. All funds are due December 12th.
