Step Two

Once you receive your Award Letter, you have the right to reject or approve your award offering(including grants, scholarships, and loans) by indicating your preference to the Financial Aid office.

Any North Carolina resident student who thinks they are eligible for the NC Need Based Grant Program should apply at Directions and requirements are found on this site.

If you are using student loans, you will be required to learn the terms and conditions of your loan.  These requirements can be found at Loan entrance counseling and a Master promissory note are required by each loan holder before awards are processed.  You will need your FSA ID to log in and complete the session.  Your infomration will be forwarded to MACU once complete.

Your loan information will be submitted to the National Student Loan Data System(NSLDS), and will be accessible by guaranty agencies, lenders, and schools determined to be authorized users of the data syster.

Education Loans

All Federal Stafford student loans and Federal PLUS parents loans are now processed with the Federal Direct Loan Program. Students and parents must do the required steps at

Non-federal (private, alternative) student education loans can be used to “bridge the gap” once all federal aid is used. Students may use any lender that offers this type of loan. Some lenders include:  Sallie Mae, SunTrust, Discover Student Loans, and many others. The lender choice is up to the student. Please notify the MACU Financial Aid Office is using any non-federal loan.

Students are allowed to choose any lender they wish.

Selective Service Requirement

All males between the ages of 18 and 25 must be registered with the Selective Services to be eligible for any federal financial aid. If you have not registered, you can do so online with Register NOW . Any questions regarding registration with the Selective Services can be directed to 1-847-688-6888.
