Leadership and Administration

Welcome to MACU’s Leadership and Administration Program page! These are exciting times on the campus of Mid-Atlantic Christian University. The Leadership and Administration Major creates a host of wonderful opportunities for the student for full time employment.

Excellence in leadership is one of the critical issues facing organizations today. For-profit and Nonprofit organizations rely on Godly and effective leaders to guide their organizations through the day-to-day challenges.

There is a great demand for men and women, who are trained and committed to lead organizations onto greater accomplishments for God and mankind.

At Mid-Atlantic you’ll receive a strong Biblical foundation with a major in Bible. Building upon that foundation, you’ll pursue a major in Leadership and Administration. These courses comprise the professional studies element of your education – providing specialized courses to equip you with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to effectively lead the nonprofit or para-church organization.

Sample Course Descriptions

Management introduces the student to strategic planning, marketing, and resource management.

Leadership introduces the student to the successful model of servant leadership in a Biblical context. Integrity, humility, vision, and holiness are some of the characteristics of the servant leader.

Organizational Finance provides the student with the basic principles of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and assessment of financial performance.

Organizational Behavior equips the student to evaluate group culture within an organization. The student will also learn to effectively introduce change into an organization.

Strategic Management is the capstone course for this minor. Students integrate knowledge and skills learned in previous courses to demonstrate the ability to lead a nonprofit organization. Case studies are used extensively.

Insight from the trenches...

After 10 years of youth ministry, 4 years as campus minister, and the last 7 years in the preaching ministry, I’ve come to realize just how important the aspect of leadership and administration are for a ministry. I only wish the classes in nonprofit leadership had been available when I was in school at MACU.

Keeping our leadership and people focused is one of my key responsibilities. We have to set goals, make plans, and implement those plans. This requires organizational and administrative skills. Soon, our congregation will be raising funds for our first building project. I’m confident the class in fundraising would help me through this challenge.

If an individual is going into ministry, any type of ministry, I would certainly recommend the classes in the Nonprofit Leadership and Administration minor. The Church is an organization. It is made up of people with different talents and abilities. Being able to get all these people working together for a common purpose is a major task in ministry today.

These classes in nonprofit leadership are really needed. In business, whether it is in a church setting or a corporate setting, one must be able to deal with people on a personal and a professional level.

Graduates leave MACU yearning for their ministry to be a success. The Nonprofit Leadership and Administration minor provides the graduate with the vital knowledge and skills necessary to lead an organization. Classes include training in how to initiate change, dealing with people in a professional manner, developing a servant’s heart, and approaching financial matters in an effective manner. Each of these are so very practical and will prove invaluable to the new graduate.

Kudos to MACU for offering this program minor!
