Transfer Credit Policy
Policy on Transfer of Credit
Mid-Atlantic Christian University awards credit to transfer collegiate coursework from accredited institutions recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) when the coursework meets these criteria: Documented through an official transcript, Documented appropriate quality and level of instruction (i.e. from an accredited institution with final grade of at least C), Fulfills requirements for the student’s chosen MACU program. All transfer of credit decisions are made by the Registrar in consultation with the chair of the relevant divisions of study, using the above criteria. The Registrar may consult with various faculty to provide appropriate flexibility and fairness. Credits from non-accredited institutions are considered when documentation shows coursework represents collegiate coursework taught by qualified faculty. Students may appeal a transfer of credit decision to the Vice President for Academic Affairs if they feel their request was denied unfairly.
Coursework that leads to the Applied Science degree that is career/technical in content is normally not transferable (e.g., HVAC or cosmetology courses). However, MACU will consider transfer up to twelve (12) semester credit hours as elective hours if the coursework is designated by the originating institution as at least a 200 level course.
See the Mid-Atlantic Christian University on-line Catalog (2011-2012) page 17 for transfer policy details.
